A HISTORY OF FULWOOD LAWN TENNIS CLUB
Preface
1892 to 1958

With the Centenary of the Club only seven years away, I have jotted down a few facts and personal recollections of the Club covering the first 68 years of its existence. I joined the Club as a Junior Member in 1924 and have, I think, a longer period of continuous membership than most others.

Having been born very near the Club, my memories go back nearly 85 years. As a very small child, I watched members walking up Highgate Avenue, invariably dressed in white tennis clothes, carrying racquets and string bags of tennis balls. With a companion, I would sit between the court netting and the hedge at the top of Highgate Avenue to watch the play on the grass courts (now the car park).

I became a Senior Member in 1929 and Hon. Treasurer and a member of the Committee and the Ground Sub-committee in 1933.
